Another important innovation is the Fid Lock magnetic attachment system that goes beyond the standard Fastex System consisting of the classic snap buckle. A solution designed to be faster and safer and become a trend for future Rudy Project helmets. The compact magnetic industry-leading FidLock® buckle is intuitive, pinch-free and one handed use even wearing your gloves on. This reliable, comfortable and secure system ensures secure protection in a snap.
At Rudy Project we are committed to develop products aiming to the highest level of safety, exceeding the current requirements set by international Standards, such as the CE or CPSC norms. Today more than ever our goal is to go even further by overpassing the RP Rotational Impact Test.
This rotational impact test is an internal protocol adopted by Rudy Project, in cooperation with accredited and notified bodies, to test and measure the performance of the helmets against rotational impacts; it takes inspiration from CEN, from ECE 22.06 (a new standard for motorcycle helmets) and it is based on real accident data and scientific sources.
*This Rotational Impact test is a Rudy Project internal protocol to test and measure the performance of our newest helmets against rotational impacts. This test has not been adopted by CEN or by its Working Group CEN TC 158 / Working Group 11.
I have been a longtime user of Specialized and Giro helmets. The last helmet I was using was actually a Coros with the bone conduction headphones built in to the straps, but when I got a pair of Shockz headphones for running, I didn't need the Coros any longer, and it was getting a bit long in the tooth. I had planned on getting an S-Works Prevail 3 because, if I am being completely honest, I really like that off white color they're offering. But on a whim, since I had both a discount and Rudy Project site awards, I decided to give the Egos a try.
Holy crap if this isn't the absolute most comfortable cycling helmet I have ever worn. I mean, seriously, I didn't know a helmet could just disappear on your head, but this one does. You'd really forget you were wearing it if not for the strap, which you can feel (though it's not bothersome), because you really don't even feel the helmet once you're on the road. I never thought I'd be on this site reviewing the helmet, but it's just so darn good. I think they have a new convert in me.
By far THE most comfortable helmet I have ever owned! 30 year cycling veteran, I have owned a lot of helments and have put many to the test. I live in the south eastern part of the US, so heat and humidity are big factors. I have been brand loyal to a popular three-letter-company for a couple of years. I recently purchased a Medium Egos and have taken it on a few lengthy summer rides. The new buckle and netting is cool, but I can honestly say - I did not know a bike helmet could be this comfortable. I have found my new favorite!
I'm a 66 year old competitive inline speed skater and have been in Rudy Helmets for the past 3 years. Introduced to them by my good friend and owner/manager of the inline speed skating team I skate for. In SoCal, I roll with SoCal Skaters and have been a Rudy Ambassador for 3 years.
Just ordered the Nytron to replace the EGOS I only had since March 1, 2023. The EGOS saved my life. On April 2 I was in a very bad inline speed skating crash on Pacific Coast Highway on my return trip from Huntington Beach to Irvine. In a nutshell, I hit a small piece of debris in the bike lane stopping my forward movement immediately throwing 170 pounds of me straight into the pavement at 18 mph onto my right shoulder and head. Result: a very bad level 4 AC joint separation of my right shoulder and a cracked helmet. The helmet did what it was supposed to do. Thank you!!!!!
The Plan: replaced the EGOS helmet with the next level up Nytron helmet, surgery scheduled for 4/25, back to skating again by 11/1/2023.
While I may be delayed getting back to skating and cycling for 6 months, I'm alive to get back to skating and cycling in 6 months. Thanks Rudy!
Proud Rudy Ambassador,
My Propusle RX prescription glasses with ImpactX Photochromic 2 Red are my all-time favourites. For everything from XCO racing to Gravel night rides these lenses perform under a wide range of conditions. I love them so much I'm planning to buy a 2nd pair.
Great helmet - combo of perfect fit, light weight - really nice for training. Easy to adjust / fits according to sizing.
Nice plus - great helmet for racing triathlon in really hot conditions - very breathable for racing yet aero.
Would / did recommend to many friends who also like it as well.
In April 2022, I purchased a pair of Magnus sunglasses (Blue Navy Matte frame, with Multilaser Blue lenses). I have been very pleased with their performance, comfort, versatility, and style.
I also added a pair of Magnus ImpactX Photochromic 2 Laser Red lenses (16%-75% transmission). I find that this combination of lenses is perfect for the varying conditions of sun, cloud, rain, and shade encountered in the Pacific Northwest (BC) in all seasons. I highly recommend the Magus model.
