Nice product. I wish that RP could be a dependable company. To discontinue this product without announcing/releasing an acceptable alternative leaves me, and my presbyopic patients, high and dry. What am I going to tell them? “Don’t be active because a brand we’ve relied on to meet your presbyopic needs doesn’t have an option for you anymore.”
These are OK. They are just like my last pair that broke at the inside top so they fall out of the frame. I really wish that they were photochromatic, and that Rudy Project had a local optician in Seattle that could give me photochromatic progressive bifocals.
For those of use aging cyclist the reader feature of the Rydon lens is a perfect solution. I have 2 pair, highly recommend
After buying a couple of repair parts for my 23-year old Rydon's, I got notification from Rudy Project that there was to be a factory warehouse moving sale. Desperately in need of a new helmet, I spied the Protera+ in my size at a fantastic price. I didn't need to be told twice and bought the helmet without any further consternation. Showed up super quick. I've used the Protera+ 6-8 times now. It feels like it was made for my head. I couldn't ask for more.
The Spinshield is an impressive full coverage piece of eyewear. The field of vision is impressive, they are very light, ventilate well, …..it goes on. They are a bit oversized for casual wear in my opinion, but they are fabulous on the bike which is their only purpose for me. The wrap around of the lens makes them seem like they are frameless.
If you are serious about eye protection, these should be on your short list.
My next pair will have the photochromic lens option.
Awesome helmet - I'm now on my 2nd as I smashed the first one by going head first into tarmac after being flipped upside down by a GMC Yukon driver! But the helmet is the best compromise of aero & cooling comfort I've found and feels fast at all speeds other than sudden zeroes at ground level!
