ImpactX® Photochromic Lenses
ImpactX® lenses are photochromic. This means they get dark from low to high light transmission within few seconds and reaching a custom color from an initial clear state. They enhance contrast, improve visual acuity and depth perception.ImpactX® lenses are 16% lighter than CR-39 and 10% lighter than polycarbonate; they have lower internal stress and chromatic dispersion than polycarbonate, resulting in sharper images, higher definition, reduces “rainbowing”, and more visual comfort.
These glasses look cool, but literally do not stay on my head without a helmet or hat pushing down on them. The arms of the glasses are not straight so you cannot capture them under your helmet. They curve weirdly and spring up on your face if you don't have anything to push down on them.
The lenses are nice and big, but come up high on my forehead, sealing in all of the sweat and steam while I ride. By pushing them down my nose a bit they seem to breathe better. The final let down for these glasses was the little rubber insert on the ends of the arms of the glasses that catch my hair and rip it out every time I put them on or take them off. The inserts have gaps that don't allow for a nice glide over hair strands. I'll probably have to fill the gaps with some sort of glue so it stops pulling my hair out. Given all that, once they're on and held down by my helmet they work great, blocks the sunlight and look super cool. If you have a helmet that sits low on your forehead, these will not work.
Love the design (high and off the cheeks) and the face coverage. With that comes some trapped air and during very slow climbs with not a lot of air circulation or when you dismount after a hard effort, they can fog very easily so I just have to be mindful and pull them down off my brow when these situations happen. Was thinking of taking the Dremel to the top but did that to some oakleys once and they were never the same. But man they are light, hardly move on my face and great (the transition lenses) especially for when starting your ride before the sun rises or when its low light conditions.
These are now at the top of my list to wear on my rides! Fit is great and require zero adjustments on my gravel rides regardless of how rough the road gets. Photochromic lens are the only way to go - they adjust great to the conditions. No issue with my eyes getting dry on long rides due to the Spinshield! I will be wearing these for Unbound XL, no question. I do have a pair of RP Cutline and these are better due to fit and coverage. Hard case is the only thing that would make the glasses even better for storage.
