Another important innovation is the Fid Lock magnetic attachment system that goes beyond the standard Fastex System consisting of the classic snap buckle. A solution designed to be faster and safer and become a trend for future Rudy Project helmets. The compact magnetic industry-leading FidLock® buckle is intuitive, pinch-free and one handed use even wearing your gloves on. This reliable, comfortable and secure system ensures secure protection in a snap.
At Rudy Project we are committed to develop products aiming to the highest level of safety, exceeding the current requirements set by international Standards, such as the CE or CPSC norms. Today more than ever our goal is to go even further by overpassing the RP Rotational Impact Test.
This rotational impact test is an internal protocol adopted by Rudy Project, in cooperation with accredited and notified bodies, to test and measure the performance of the helmets against rotational impacts; it takes inspiration from CEN, from ECE 22.06 (a new standard for motorcycle helmets) and it is based on real accident data and scientific sources.
*This Rotational Impact test is a Rudy Project internal protocol to test and measure the performance of our newest helmets against rotational impacts. This test has not been adopted by CEN or by its Working Group CEN TC 158 / Working Group 11.
By far THE most comfortable helmet I have ever owned! 30 year cycling veteran, I have owned a lot of helments and have put many to the test. I live in the south eastern part of the US, so heat and humidity are big factors. I have been brand loyal to a popular three-letter-company for a couple of years. I recently purchased a Medium Egos and have taken it on a few lengthy summer rides. The new buckle and netting is cool, but I can honestly say - I did not know a bike helmet could be this comfortable. I have found my new favorite!
I'm a 66 year old competitive inline speed skater and have been in Rudy Helmets for the past 3 years. Introduced to them by my good friend and owner/manager of the inline speed skating team I skate for. In SoCal, I roll with SoCal Skaters and have been a Rudy Ambassador for 3 years.
Just ordered the Nytron to replace the EGOS I only had since March 1, 2023. The EGOS saved my life. On April 2 I was in a very bad inline speed skating crash on Pacific Coast Highway on my return trip from Huntington Beach to Irvine. In a nutshell, I hit a small piece of debris in the bike lane stopping my forward movement immediately throwing 170 pounds of me straight into the pavement at 18 mph onto my right shoulder and head. Result: a very bad level 4 AC joint separation of my right shoulder and a cracked helmet. The helmet did what it was supposed to do. Thank you!!!!!
The Plan: replaced the EGOS helmet with the next level up Nytron helmet, surgery scheduled for 4/25, back to skating again by 11/1/2023.
While I may be delayed getting back to skating and cycling for 6 months, I'm alive to get back to skating and cycling in 6 months. Thanks Rudy!
Proud Rudy Ambassador,
Rudy Project's offering of the Egos in three sizes (small, medium, large instead of small/medium or large) was a big draw. Historically, I've worn the small/medium sized helmets from Rudy Project and experienced just the slightest bits of wiggle in all but the Nytron; the updated retention system was a brilliant addition. Because the Spectrum in a medium I had been sporting the past couple of years was a spot-on fit, I decided on an Egos in white, rather than a second Nytron that would be used exclusively for road riding. While the Egos is not the most svelte helmet Rudy Project has produced, it is certainly a technical marvel. Its numerous vents make for the Goldilocks of comfort & air circulation: It's just right no matter how hot or how cool out it is. (FWIW, the Nytron also stays remarkably cool, even in South Texas summers, even in the black color scheme.) The Egos's new magnetic buckle system supplants the tried, true, but tired traditional buckle system used on most every other helmet system out there; it connects & disconnects quickly, conveniently, and securely. Apart from its more bulbous shape (the half-sphere at helmet's top sits a bit higher/larger than the Spectrum, Nytron, and other current helmets on the market but falls short of Space Balls proportions), the only "down side" I've experienced with the Egos is stashing glasses in the vents. It's not as intuitively easy to slide your shades but can be done with a bit of practice; Tralyx, Keyblade, and Rydons all work well enough in my experience these past few weeks.
TLDR, the Egos is a well-ventilated and comfortable helmet for all your road bike adventures making it figuratively & literally Rudy Project's most technically cool helmet offering to-date.
The Fluo kits look great, but mine (Fluo Red) faded to almost white in about 18 months with about 6-10 hours per week of outdoor use. This is not covered by warranty so I would avoid. Surprised to see a quality sun wear brand like Rudy Project making products that don't do well in the sun!
When I enquired I was told that this is a known problem, but I don't see it mentioned ahead of purchase on e-commerce sites like this one.
Extremely comfortabl and lightweight helmet. Plenty of airvents to keep me cool. Shape and colors make this look fast.
What an amazing pair of Sunglasses. This is BY FAR the best pair of Sunglasses I have ever owned. Got them in the pink and have received a ton of compliments on them. Well worth the price! Highly recommend l!
