ImpactX® lenses are photochromic. This means they get dark from low to high light transmission within few seconds and reaching a custom color from an initial clear state. They enhance contrast, improve visual acuity and depth perception. ImpactX® lenses are 16% lighter than CR-39 and 10% lighter than polycarbonate; they have lower internal stress and chromatic dispersion than polycarbonate, resulting in sharper images, higher definition, reduces “rainbowing”, and more visual comfort.
After purchasing over 100 pair of another popular brand I am now on my third pair of Rudy project and the lens quality is superior
The RX insert fogs. The top rim of the sunglasses hits the helmet brim constantly pushing the glasses down off your nose.
I love the frames and lenses. The photochromic adjusts really well to dynamic light conditions while running or XC-skiing. Only wish they had the option to buy polarized lenses (seems like Rudy moved away from polarized for most of their sports frames, which is a shame)
I recently had the chance to try out a friend's Wing during an 80km group ride (I know, this isn't a group ride helmet) after failing to pack my helmet. I was impressed by the comfort of the helmet, and asked to borrow it for a week to complete some solo rides. Already owning a Kask Mistral I wasn't necessarily in need of a new TT helmet, but to be honest I've never been a fan of the Mistral shape - so I was drawn in by the good looks of the Wing (subjective good looks of course). 50km relatively flat ride, and without much effort I cut 1m37s off my PB on that route. Was it all helmet, not likely... but that is good enough for me to pull the trigger during the current sale. Can't wait to have one of my own soon!
I love my Boost 01 helmet, and these pads keep it going! Great quality too, just as I'd expect of Rudy Project.
