This was bought as a gift for my mom. She absolutely loves this helmet. I would definitely recommend it.
I use this helmet for hot rides. Lots of vents and so light. I'm not sure if the visor is removable and I think this is the only disadvantage to Protera.
I have always struggled with visors on my helmets and have removed them. On the Crossway I hardly know that it is there, yet have appreciated the benefits of having the visor for shade and protection from branches. It is my go-to for gravel and mountain use. Great fit, great ventilation, great value! Thanks!
I use these photochromic lenses for a lot of activities including hiking, mountain biking and snowshoeing in varying light conditions including deep wooded trails. Photochromic lenses really work for changing light conditions. In low to moderate light they are a subtle reddish brown that increases contrast and are not too dark. In brighter light they are more of a pleasant copper gold colour. The laser coating adds a subtle reddish gold mirror effect. Highly recommended for varying light conditions.
I have had my Rudy Project Rydons for about 6 months. They are so well designed it's amazing. Adjustable temples and nose pads make them fit really well, they are stable even for aggressive mountain biking. The lens choices make them so versatile. I have smoke black for general purpose, and Impact X2 Photochromic Clear to Laser Brown for hiking and biking. Even in deep wooded trails in winter the vision is excellent with them. Editing to add that they come with a good quality hard case that has a flap that holds two extra pairs of lenses, plus a microfiber pouch.
