Safe, Adjustable, and Stylish

P1100133 copyWhether you’re heading out for a training ride or an easy spin around town, your helmet is a vital piece of equipment that shouldn’t be overlooked. Finding a helmet that fits well, feels great and even looks cool is the first step to a safe ride.

Rudy Project utilizes advanced technology to ensure the highest level of protection in the sleek and stylish Airstorm helmet. Whether you mountain bike, road ride, or commute around the city, the Airstorm helmet is a great mix of safety and style that you’ll love to wear day in and day out.

IMG_1506The Airstorm’s RSR 8+ retention system allows for quick and easy adjustments on the fly with its small tightening wheel on the back of the helmet. Mid-ride micro-adjustments have never been easier! Also, the retention system has a wide range of adjustability and can easily accommodate a thick winter hat one day and no hat at all the next.

The Airstorm’s Fastex Buckle system, which snaps the two helmet straps together, adds another level of adjustability to ensure a perfect fit. The ergonomically shaped buckle is very comfortable and thanks to its extra padding the buckle sits comfortably against the neck. Say goodbye to the annoying red marks on your neck caused from uncomfortable and scratchy helmet straps.

IMG_1514Talking about comfort, the Airstorm includes soft padding inside of the helmet to ensure a cozy and comfortable fit. The helmet comes with several varieties of padding to choose from including one with soft netting to keeps bugs out of your hair. However, if bugs aren’t a concern for you, a quick swap of the Velcro pads will give you the same comfort and padding without the bug net.

The Airstorm’s padding options are non-allergenic and have anti perspiration properties. The pads are also washable so you can feel clean and fresh every time you strap your helmet on for a ride.

IMG_1507The Airstorm’s flow-through ventilation system helps keep you cool and dry on even the hottest summer rides. The helmet’s 21 optimally shaped and strategically positioned vents work together for superior ventilation. Inner air channels disperse body heat from your head to improve evaporation when you start to sweat. Together the outer vents and inner air channels work together to keep you cool so that you can beat the heat and ride and race better than ever before.

Protection and Construction

IMG_1511_2Rudy Project’s Airstorm uses an Impact Protection Grid and In Mold Technology to create a seriously safe helmet. The materials used to build the Airstorm help absorb shocks and dissipate energy away from the head and body in the event of a crash. Rudy Project uses a three-layer construction that includes an EPS (expanded polystyrene) inner layer, polycarbonate cap, and an exoskeleton. These layers are built together to form “knock-proof” protection that is also lightweight and comfortable.

All Rudy Project helmets are CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) certified. This means they’ve passed rigorous testing procedures and are certified at the highest level of safety in the U.S. It also means that Rudy Project helmets are a great choice for triathletes because all USA Triathlon sanctioned event require athletes to wear a CPSC certified helmet.

DSC01236Safety, comfort, and fit are important features for helmets, but it’s also important that you look and feel good in your cycling equipment. The Airstorm is a sleek and stylish helmet that you’ll feel confident wearing every day.

The Airstorm comes in a variety of color options including a flashy fluorescent yellow and matte black version. While the bright yellow is exciting, it also provides additional visibility and safety while out on the road. However, florescent colors aren’t for everyone, so the Airstorm comes in other color schemes including black and matte white, all matte while, and white and red.

Another stylish and functional detail worth noting is the Airstorm’s removable visor. The visor protects you from the sun when riding out on the open road or protects you from low hanging branches when mountain biking. However, the Airstorm looks great with or without the visor so the decision is entirely up to you and your personal preferences.

A Helmet For Everyone

Priced at just $174.99, the Airstorm helmet is a great value for superior protection. It isn’t the lightest of helmets, weighing in at 312 grams, but the extra adjustability and padding is well worth a few extra grams. Whether you’re a triathlete, road cyclist, mountain biker, or you just like to cruise around town, the Airstorm is a stylish and safe helmet perfect for any occasion.
