Tim Reed is a distinctive figure on the race course – the 2016 70.3 World Champion eats up the swim and bike miles with a determination that is striking. This year, for Kona, his no-nonsense approach promises to deliver big when he puts it all together on race day.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A basketball player.
What is on your mind as you prepare for Kona?
The most constant question in my mind is “am I over training or under training?” Also really looking forward to when it’s all over and bringing the training hours back to more healthy load.
What are three of your travel essentials?
Rudy Project Astroloop sunglasses, noise cancelling headphones, and phone.
What do you see as your biggest strength going into Kona?
Not repeating past mistakes.
What was the last gift you gave someone?
A veggie box.

What do you love about the triathlon community?
I think that those that suffer together have stronger bonds. Some of my closest friends are training partners who’ve I’ve spent countless hours training with.
What would make this a perfect season for you?

How do you like to spend a day off?
Fishing, relaxing with my family and/or listening to music.
