This year, he finished his 29,000 km (yes, you read that right) journey around the world, where he partnered with local firefighters to raise funds for cancer charities. He crossed 18 countries, set two world records, and raised almost $50,000 for cancer research. What’s in store for 2018? “I’ve been contacted by a company that followed my adventures and been invited to join an expedition to climb Mount Everest in 2019. Badass is Beautiful

2017 was a year marked by strong female voices, and we wanted to honor the most badass team of ladies we know – #TeamBetty. What does it take to be an official Betty Designs ambassador? “We seek women who live a very positive, active lifestyle in our core sports (swim, cycle, tri), and are very active in their local communities and social media,” says Kristin Mayer, who founded Betty Designs in 2010. New for 2018, the Betty Squad will be segmented into three groups: Elite Racing Team, International Bettys, and USA Bettys. If you missed this year’s cutoff, follow @bettydesigns on social media for when the next round of applications opens up in September. In the meantime, up your #kitgame and find them online at www.bettydesigns.com.

retro product

As we say goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018, we dug deep into the archives and found this masterpiece – the 1989 sunglass model the Extreme. These hot pink beauties represented the pinnacle of performance eyewear in the late 80’s, and featured curved temple arms and a padded nosepiece for an ergonomic fit. While you can’t get these anywhere, Rudy Project maintains a strong neon tradition, and we encourage you to check out the next best thing – Tralyx in Rubin.

Words to live by from Heather Jackson:

“Set some goals for yourself in 2018. Challenge yourself. Take a big jump that you’ve never taken before. And don’t feel guilty brainstorming and planning all of that out over a beverage and dessert of choice. Give yourself right now and you will be ready and wanting to be focused, diligent, and all-in next week when it’s time to go after those goals. At least that’s what I’m doing! Have a wonderful final few days of 2017!”
